This course is expected to give a thorough understanding to students in the increasing non-western perspective in studying science, especially communication science. When the history of communication science started and focus on western culture and perspective, social science taught us on the influence of context in influencing the production of knowledge. Therefore, it is crucial to understand that the characteristics of Asia that to some extent differ to the characteristics of the West might result in the different form of knowledge. Moreover, this course is also conducted with the postcolonial spirit to questions the standard social narrative that was formed using a western perspective.
